Human Evolution is Here! — Applications of NeuralLink Chip.

After watching the live stream of Elon musk’s presentation and demonstration of neurallink chip, the first taught came to my mind is “Evolution is here!”

NeuralLink is a device that will be implanted in our skull to communicate and monitor our brain activity. How awesome that is.. Isn't’ it? I mean you can have a programmable device into your brain and you can literally extend its capabilities at any level using code! Only this statement gives me strong goosebumps.

Just think how amazing this technology is. After some time may be superhumans would be moving around the streets not only in the movies. :D

The main thing I want to discuss here is how neurallink can be useful to us in lots and lots of ways.

So As per the Elon’s presentation and entire Q & A portion, I would like to divide the applications into several domains. Every domain has its own use-cases. You can think of these domains as fundamental blocks of the human brain.

1. Storage Domain

The human brain stores lots of information. Sometimes we call this information “Memories”.

As we grow old, these memories get faded. We don’t remember highly accurate moments of our childhood. Specifically, the moments which were not important.

We remember only important once, maybe we will forget those as well after some time or maybe not. But what if we can store all the memories somewhere and restore it whenever we want! Just like taking backup.

NeuralLink chip would be able to back up our memories and restore them whenever required. This way it would also be able to help with memory loss related diseases.

2. Vision Domain

As per the comment of one of the team members of neurallink, the chip will help humans to recover from blindness or permanent eye damage. The chip can be integrated with the internal visual cortex and help get the vision back or cure the vision problem.

If the eye has some serious damage the visual cortex could be integrated with an external camera and one can have a modified vision system using this chip, just like terminator!

Extension to this an individual may extend the vision capabilities by adding thermal or sensor-based cameras.

So this is not just promising to cure or solve existing problems, they are aiming to improve and evolve further!

3. Processing Domain

The neurallink chip would be able to read and write the information or signals to the brain or neurons. With this kind of superior ability, this chip would be able to help patients with mental illness and related diseases.

This chip can write the data to the brain, which means it might be able to control the emotions of the brain.

For instance, if my leg is broken by using this chip, I might be able to control the pain and feel nothing until it gets fixed. Because after all the pain is an emotion.

One can control anxiety and depression problems as well because these are also related to emotions. Insomnia like problems also could be fixed as one of the team members added in the Q&A part.

In a nutshell, this chip might be able to control the human brain's emotions and thoughts processing and eliminate existing related problems.

4. Dieses Control Domain

This chip may cause a new evolution, where some of the major diseases in today's world would be eradicated completely.

Some of them are paralysis, spinal damage, blindness, memory loss, depression, anxiety, insomnia, brain malfunction, body part replacement, etc.

In addition to that, this chip would be able to monitor other human body parts like the heart and lungs. So this may encounter any upcoming disease at a very early stage.

Once this chip gets to succeed, there is an enormous amount of applications that could be achievable and lots of existing major problems could be solved.

5. Miscellaneous Domain

There are some applications mentioned in the video, that sounds impossible and falls under the “SuperHuman” category.

Some of them are,

  1. Controlling your smart devices from implanted chip or brain
  2. Enhance brain’s processing capabilities
  3. Smart body parts replacement and integration with the chip

and others.

In the ending notes, I would like to say,

As of now, the neurallink team is conducting their experiments on pigs and in a controlled environment.

Let’s wait and watch how they achieve their milestones and make this possible with humans and take us all to the next Evolution!

Like any other project, there are some perks like feasibility, security, and integrity.

But, all we can do is hope for the best.
